About Us

History
LiveRC.com was founded in 2005 by Brandon Rohde in cooperation with Doug Hay, founder of RC Scoring Pro race management software. Originally, the idea of putting live scoring and results over the internet came about in a random "what-if" conversation between Doug and Brandon. With a little brainstorming, they made a rudimentary system to accomplish this and did a test run in May, 2005 (see the original thread on RCTech here). After a few days of debugging, LiveRC.com was born and the first race broadcasted was the 2005 Reedy Race of Champions. Originally, LiveRC.com was known as "RC Live," however the domain name RCLive.com was taken at that time, so the name was changed to LiveRC.com. Since that time, LiveRC.com has now acquired the RCLive.com domain as well.
After two months of rudimentary live scoring, the idea was very well received within the r/c car racing community. By the end of 2005, live audio and video was added, and the live scoring was undergoing constant evolution and improvements. Since that time, the live race coverage on LiveRC.com has been a continuous work-in-progress and continues to add new services and features all the time.
In December, 2010, LiveRC.com hired their first full-time employee, Eric Swanson. Eric is a well-accomplished r/c car racer, and he brought a wealth of of video production knowledge to the table with a degree in television production and work experience through companies such as Fox Sports. In January, 2011, LiveRC.com re-invented their website by developing an entirely new look with all new features on it. LiveRC.com is now a full-featured r/c car media outlet, featuring daily news, editorials, pictures, videos, race coverage, and more.
