Randy Pike explains how to adjust the Drag Brake feature on Tekin ESCs and goes over how to use this feature. Drag Brake is a user-programmable setting that applies braking when the throttle is in neutral, allowing you to scrub speed and maintain full control of your vehicle. Racers will find that it can help set the car into a corner and help keep better control. Rock Crawlers use Drag Brake to keep their trucks from free-rolling and to maintain better control while driving in technical situations.

Drag Brake is available in 1-13 steps when using the onboard programming and 0-100 through the HotWire module via PC or mobile device.

Brake Frequency affects Drag Brake strength and is available in a range from 750Hz - 12000Hz. The default is 6000Hz, lower values increase braking strength and higher values decrease and smooth braking strength.

Randy Pike explains hot to adjust the Brake Strength on Tekin ESCs and goes over how to use this feature. Brake Strength is a user-programmable setting that controls how strong the brakes when full trigger brake is applied. Typically this is set lower in 2WD vehicles and on loose surfaces and higher in 4WD vehicles an on surfaces with more grip.

Most racers tend to set the ESC to 100% Brake Strength and adjust the end point on their radio, effectively accomplishing the same goal rather than adjusting the ESC directly.

Brake Frequency affects Brake Strength and is available in a range from 750Hz - 12000Hz. The default is 6000Hz, lower values give a more aggressive braking and higher values smooth braking. This does not affect the overall Brake Strength value, so if it is set to 100 you will always get 100 at full trigger brake.

Randy Pike explains how to adjust the Neutral Width setting on Tekin ESCs and goes over how to use this feature. Neutral Width adjusts the dead band around neutral, lower values tighten up this window and higher values expand it. Sometimes a radio signal can wander and a Neutral Width set too low may keep the ESC from accepting the radio's neutral as an acceptable signal and prevent it from arming. You'll see a 3 LED code on the left or right of the LED bar if this happens. See this page for info on ESC codes: http://www.teamtekin.com/eschelp.html

Randy Pike explains how Timing Profiles are programmed and used on Tekin ESCs. Timing Profiles add in Timing Advance and Timing Boost to increase overall motor RPM. Use this feature wisely and be sure to gear accordingly as it can cause extreme heat and damage components.

Randy Pike goes over the Motor Type settings on Tekin ESCs and explains the differences between brushless modes and brushed modes.
