Our friends at Thunder Road Hobbies in Moline, Illinois have announced a very special event in an effort to help find a cure for mesothelioma, after a close friend and racer lost his wife to the deadly disease. Thunder Road Hobbies, and the sponsoring Midwest Nitro Series, have released the following information regarding the upcoming race.

Cathy Johnson was a long time supporter of R/C racing and most importantly accompanied her husband Steve Johnson to all of his races. She recently passed away after battling with Mesothelioma. Thunder Road Hobbies will be holding a benefit race to honor Cathy and to raise money for mesothelioma research Friday September 27th & Saturday September 28th.
All proceeds will go to www.curemeso.org - The Meso Foundation is the national organization dedicated to finding a cure and eradicating mesothelioma as a life-ending disease. Anyone can sign up on www.rcsignup.com for the race but not required. All proceeds will be given to www.curemeso.org. If you cannot make the race and want to help out you can go to www.curemeso.org/fundraising/cathyjohnson and make a donation. Any and every donation helps! Alliant Energy will match all proceeds up to $10,000
- Trophies will be given out and some great prizes will be given away.
- $100 will be given to the Pro buggy winner, $50.00 to winner of E-Buggy from Quality Motors, a Picco boost will be raffled off, 2 Rcrenew engine mods valued at $100 ea, and the winner of Sportsman Buggy will receive a Picco 50% sponsorship! Thanks to Lance at RCRenew/TritonRC.
