Pavidis goes Losi, and we at LiveRC were able to catch up with the legend for the inside scoop!

Former IFMAR World Champion and legend in the r/c industry, Mark Pavidis, has announced that he will be leaving Team Kyosho and moving to Team Losi. Pavidis has been a vital part of Kyosho's team for over 12 years. In that 12 year span Pavidis brought home the 2006 IFMAR World Championship in Indonesia, was found debuting the prototype Ultima RB5 2wd buggy for the first time, played a major role in the offroad electric team and development, and much much more.

Unfortunately, like any motorsport, despite long time relationships, it is still a business. Due to Kyosho's full focus support towards their current world champion and world's TQ, support for some of the other drivers has been cut back. As we have seen in the recent past, Pavidis still has the capability of making any A-Main, if not winning it. In order to continue his career full-time racing at all major races with the support he is looking for, he made the decision to move to Team Losi.

While the news comes as quite a shock to the industry, Mark says "There are no hard feelings towards anyone, and cannot thank everyone at Kyosho enough for the past 12 1/2 years." While Mark and Kyosho are going separate ways on good terms, rumors have circulated as to his overall involvement with Losi and his current ownership of AKA.

According to Mark, he will not be working for Team Losi, and nothing has changed with AKA. He will simply be running Losi vehicles. While his input and R/C experience will help Losi to further their improvement of vehicles, Pavidis will play no part in the Losi R&D department.  All of Mark's other sponsors will remain in tact: Futaba, OS Engines, and so on.

Where does AKA come into play you ask? As most of you probably know, Losi drivers sometimes run Losi tires, while at other times they use other brands that are more suited to the current track/conditions. However, with the new partnership, Team Losi Racing drivers will now be running Losi or AKA tires exclusively.  Mark of course, will be running exclusively AKA tires.

Pavidis's position of ownership at AKA will not change, and is still his major focus. With the ongoing development of new products and their new relationship with Losi, we expect more and more great things to continue from AKA.

Mark Pavidis moving to Team Losi has come to a shock around the r/c industry. As Mark is so thankful for all that Kyosho has done for him and the opportunities that were made possible, he is also looking forward to continuing further with his racing career for Team Losi.
