Great Gift from Cecil Schumacher (Founder of Schumacher RC Racing)
This photo is taken together with Naomi Tomita and Robin Schumacher at 2014 Japan Off-Road RC car Championship last week at Yatabe Arena Ibaraki-prefecture.
Robin is now GM of Schumacher Racing Ltd where his father Cecil founded in Great Britain (England).
Naomi Tomita is known as 1st FEMCA (Far East Model Car Association) was GM of ODS Trading who played as exclusive importer of Schumacher Racing products in Asia when I started using its 1st generation 1/10th Electric Off-Roader named “CAT” and he made several phone call to persuade Cecil Shumacher (President of Shumacher Racing) as follows:
“Masami Hirosaka will participate World Championship from Japan. He is a genius RC driver although not known in the world. Please check his run during practice time and once Cecil comprehence his capability, please provide at least No.2 machines and support to him.” I did not know this inside story until I came back to Japan after winning 1st World Championship.

The day before Qualifying race and finished official practice at the circuit, I and My father (my mechanic!!) having dinner at restaurant, Shigeru Kinoshita played as manager and interpreter came to us saying “Here is a PRESENT FOR YOU” in big voice. That was a NEW “CAT XL” with beautifully yellow painted one with Long Chassis which has not released yet in Asia.
My Father immediately set up RC mechanism and completed car ready to run without any sleep.
On the 1st Racing day, my father came and saying “Masami, it’s you to decide which machine you use”. This is the toughest decision since I just see RTR (Ready to Run) car and no experience of running. Also I practiced the other machine and --------
If I could run even 1 lap at the course, then it should be much easier to make decision.
This means, if I choose new Machine, I have to make all trimming adjustment from ZERO during 1st Qualifying heat.
Since this is too tough to decide, I just asked my father to get his advise as follows:
(Masami): Dad How you think about this Car ?
(Dad): Fantastic !!
(Masami): Why and What ?
(Dad): I checked all screws and found out perfectly tighten and fitted using the best professional assembling skills. So this is the real 1st class Racing Machine.
(Mamami): Run First enough ?
(Dad): No worries !!
(Masami): OK I will bet to this CAR.
On the 1st Qualifying day, my new CAT XL started without any practice but run very fast even though left side cornering is a bit under steering but fitted the corner and won TQ (Top Qualify) !!!!!
This will result Pole Position start at the final and won my 1st World Championship in my Life.
After 27 years, I could meet real dedicator of my 1st World Championship at Yatabe Arena with the CAT XL which is now exhibiting at Museum in England !!
For me all the things happened 27 years ago in England and meeting both Schumacher and Tomita-san at the same time became one of my fortune of memories.
Thank you very much for Mr. Schumacher and Tomita-san who gave me special chance.
