[NEW TRACK SPOTLIGHT] Today we're sitting down with Keith Keller, owner of Scale Speed, to talk about his move into their new facility and the new race programs coming soon.

Dog Days: Where is the new facility located?
Keith @ Scale Speed: 4075 E Market St  #40 York Pa 17402

Dog Days: Talk a little bit about your move to the new facility.
Keith @ Scale Speed: Well to be honest it's been an interesting last 5 or so months. We moved out of our old location and into what we thought was going to be our new facility back in June only to have that real estate deal blow up in our faces due to covid and other things outside the normal realm of real estate. We went into full scramble mode towards the end of September spending every spare moment trying to find a space until we landed at this new location. We ended up with a much better facility and location in the end though. It's definitely taken longer than planned to get the new spot up and running but we think in the end it will be well worth it for the racers.

Dog Days: When coming to your track, are there any considerations to make in terms of directions? We all know GPS isn't always accurate.
Keith @ Scale Speed: Honestly its pretty easy to find all things considered, there is actually a really large sign out front with the address number at the top. Once you turn into the lot we are right next to the church.

Dog Days: Are there any parking considerations that racers need to know about?
Keith @ Scale Speed: We have a rather large lot so parking shouldn’t be an issue. There is a fairly large sidewalk area in front of our space for curbside unloading.

Dog Days: Besides their racing gear, what will racers typically need to bring with them? (Tables/Chairs/Extension cords/etc)
Keith @ Scale Speed: Right now racers will need to bring a table, chair and extension cords. We will be building pit tables in the future, but for now racers will need to supply their own. We are currently basing pit spaces on 4 foot by 2 foot, racers are welcome to contact us about a “permanent” spot if they would like to rent one.

Dog Days: Are there any track specific rules that racers need to know about?
Keith @ Scale Speed: We have a few things we are focusing on to make the events more safe and fun for all.
- 8.4v max charging, this will be tech enforced.
- 25 amp rule, no charging or discharging over this.
- No lipo warming devices.

Dog Days: Tell us a little bit about the off-road racing surface (size, surface type,  etc)
Keith @ Scale Speed: The offroad layout will be carpet, and about 112’x60’ in size.

Dog Days: What do you think will be the most competitive 10th scale off-road classes at your track?
Keith @ Scale Speed: I am sure that 2wd and 4wd buggy will be the most popular, but I am hoping to see some mod trucks as it’s a personal favorite of mine.

Dog Days: What tires are do you think most people will be using at your 10th scale off-road track?
Keith @ Scale Speed: I think we will see a mix of tires as guys are brand loyal for different reasons, but raw speed and JC will probably be pretty popular.

Dog Days: Tell us a little bit about the Pits (size, accommodations, etc)
Keith @ Scale Speed: So the pit area is based on each driver getting 4’x2’ of table space setup in rows of 3. So if you and a buddy are coming bring a 8’ folding table and split it. If you are planning to be a solo driver I would recommend picking up a small 4’ table just in case. We will be building permanent tables as we get more time to work on them. There is no shortage of spaces.

Dog Days: Racers love to eat. What are the food options racers can expect at your Track?
Keith @ Scale Speed: There is a lot of options near by, from Sheetz and McDonalds to a local BBQ joint, Chinese, wings, and more.

Dog Days: Is there anything else you'd like racers to know about your track?
Keith @ Scale Speed: I just want everyone to know we are going to do our best to work with the racers to make sure we have the premier indoor carpet facility they deserve. We will be working to make it the best it can be over the next few seasons, as well as adding more amenities as we can budget them in.
