Everybody knows that Friday is meant for reminiscing old times. Each week we take you back in time as we flashback to some of R/C racing's greatest moments, products, drivers, and more!

Flashback: 2007
Gil Losi Jr. leaves Horizon/Team Losi and joins Kyosho America

One of the several founding companies in competition racing is none other that Team Losi Racing. The company was started by Gil Losi Sr. in the 1980's. After a successful decade and a half of products and racing, the company was sold in 2001 to Horizon Hobby Incorporated, yet held onto it's Losi family ties with Gil Losi Jr. leading up a pack of designers to produce everything from race winning cars to Playstation video games.

The Losi family, including Gil Losi Jr., were not only the founders of the company, but also a major part of it's success. In March, 2007 the industry was hit with shocking news as Gil Losi Jr. announced he would be leaving the "family business" to join Kyosho America.

While doing an interview with Xtreme R/C Magazine, Gil Losi Jr. was quoted saying, "Horizon is a very well run company and I don’t want to slam them for doing anything that’s “bad business,” but in a way, it was too much business for me and not enough passion."

Later in that same interview he stated, "It’s very difficult for me to be away from Team Losi because that’s my family. That’s been really hard. There was one point where I could barely pick myself up off the floor because I was so freaked out by everything, but at the same time I wasn’t going forward anymore in my own development and I had to do something for me."

After leaving the Losi brand, he quickly got to work with Kyosho America's team manager at that time, Ryan Lutz. The two worked closely with team members and began to build upon a successful lineup of Kyosho products, and completed a successful racing season for Kyosho America.
