Everybody knows that Friday is meant for reminiscing old times. Each week we take you back in time as we flashback to some of R/C racing's greatest moments, products, drivers, and more!

Flashback: 2004
Kyosho debuts the MP777 1:8 scale buggy

The year was 2004, and the Kyosho Corporation rocked the 1:8 scale offroad world with their all-new MP777 buggy. The new buggy replaced the successful MP7.5 series buggy with a fresh new design, look, and overall driving feel. The 777 buggy provided Kyosho racers of all levels a more responsive,  a more agile, and a quicker buggy than ever before. The buggy would carry on the Kyosho winning tradition throughout the next 4 years until the release of the MP9.

Kyosho Press Release from 2004:
"The Inferno phenomenon has only dominated the world of 1/8 off-road racing by continually challenging the limits of current racing technology. The MP777 is a full model change and represents the next big leap in performance for off-road racing. At its debut racing event at the 2004 1/8 GP Buggy World Championships, the Inferno dominated with 4 out of the top 10 placings. The MP777’s performance and results proved the next generation in racing buggies had arrived. Newly enhanced features include a lower C of G, extended suspension stroke, increased scope for setting options, and optimized C of G position, all working in harmony to produce a big performance boost. With the genius of designer Mr. Yuichi Kanai working through the machine, the MP777 continues to lead 1/8 buggy trends, and for the racing buggy world to appreciate the most sophisticated machine available."

Possibly one of the biggest selling points of this buggy came from a promo video ad that was published shortly after the announcement of the buggy. Watch as Yuichi Kanai and fellow team drivers show off their amazing skills behind the wheel of the MP777:
