Gonzales Doubles at The 2020 Top Gun Shootout

The 10th Annual Team Associated Top Gun Shootout was held this past weekend at SDRC Raceway in San Diego, California. This would be the last big official off-road race of the year and it would not disappoint! With 190 total race entries that included many of the nation's best, it would be a great weekend of racing!

Race Schedule:

Friday, December 18th: Open Practice
Saturday, December 19th: 3 Rounds of Qualifying
Sunday, December 20th: Lower Main Bump-Ups / Single 7-minute A-Main Events

17.5 Expert 2wd Buggy

In the 17.5 Expert 2wd Buggy class, 1up Racing's Matthew Gonzales was on-fire in qualifying and would secure the overall TQ honors with his Fantom powered Team Associated B6.2D! 

Matty G then went onto lead every lap in the single 7-minute A-Main to claim his 1st Championship of the weekend!

Congrats also to Team Associated/1up Racing Team Driver Doug Lariviere on a great effort by finishing 3rd overall and on the podium in this very competitive class!

13.5 Expert 4wd Buggy

In the 13.5 Expert 4wd Buggy class, 1up Racing's Matthew Gonzales went onto dominate qualifying by TQ'ing all three rounds of qualifying with his Fantom powered Team Associated B74.1D!

Matty G then took the convincing Win in the single 7-minute A-Main, while also being the only driver to make it by for the 26th lap! Matt's 2nd Championship would complete the clean sweep for the weekend!

Congrats again to Doug Lariviere on a great drive to finish 2nd overall and on another podium!
