One common adjustment made during carpet and turf racing is a altering the rear tire insert. One of the recent trends is utilizing a narrower rear insert while racing on carpet and turf which has shown to produce different handling characteristics. The narrower design leaves more room for sidewall plunge providing more side-bite. In addition, the insert is low-profile, tight, and compact so the tire maintains its small shape for quick and nimble transition and acceleration.
