Leadfinger Racing (LFR) is always looking for solutions to bring durability to the track and give racers an option to help protect there investment.

One area that LFR felt could use attention was the tight spacing between motor and chassis on the TLR 8IGHT-E 3.0 1:8 buggy. LFR says this was found true on most motor manufactures. The goal was to save against chassis slap which damages the motor can and possibly the internal rotor. This can cause the magnet to break down, over heat, and eventually lock up the motor itself. The rotor is easily replaced at a cost, but If this has happened to you, thank your lucky stars the damage hasn't gone further.

LFR says, "We wanted to find a better option than relying on sticky back foam for protection. Together the team developed a motor mount spacer for the Losi eBuggy that gives a 3mm gap between both the motor and chassis. Made from carbon fiber, the spacer is light weight and durable. Upon testing the team showed concern for raising the center diff and possibly throwing off the center of gravity. The Losi 3.0e buggy handled the change fine. LFR driver Cole Ogden recently ran the new spacer at AMS 5.0 for both qualifiers and the main. Cole reported no change in handling characteristics at all, and states later that he even "forgot it was installed"."

At only $12, this seems to be a worthy investment to help save yourself from damaging your motor can or enduring premature motor rebuild costs.
