Maifield and Phend dominated ROAR 1/8-Scale and 4x4 short course Electric Off Road Nationals

The 2015 ROAR 1/10 4x4 SC & 1/8 Electric Off-Road Nationals were held July 9th-12th at Lost Creek R/C Raceway in Oakland Mills, Pennsylvania. Team Orion would roll into this years US Nationals with a very strong Team consisting of: 2014 3-Time Defending ROAR National Champion; Dakotah Phend, Previous ROAR 1/8 Electric Buggy & Truggy National Champion; Jared Tebo, and Team Orion's latest addition; Multi-Time ROAR National Champion; Ryan Maifield. Team Orion USA Team Manager Joe Pillars was also on-hand to provide top notch support to the team and Team Orion customers. This years track at LCRC would put every manufacturers electronics to the extreme test with a very hi-speed layout and hot/humid temperatures. This years US Nationals would record its largest entry count in history reaching an impressive 211!

Thursday, July 9th: Controlled Practice
Friday, July 10th: 2 Rounds of Qualifying
Saturday, July 11th: 2 Rounds of Qualifying
Sunday, July 12th: Triple A-Main Events

4x4 Modified Short Course

Team Orion Factory Driver's Dakotah Phend and Ryan Maifield would both TQ 2 rounds of qualifying each! Phend would just edge out Maifield for the overall TQ after the tie-breaker was calculated. The Triple A-Mains for the 4x4 Modified Short Course class would be 6-Minutes each. Phend would go onto Win A-Main #1 & A-Main #2 after having great battles with Maifield in both. Maifield would then dominate A-Main #3 to secure the 2nd overall position! Congrats also to Team Orion's Anthony Mazzara for finishing 6th overall!

Team Orion Factory Driver Ryan Maifield would TQ 2 rounds of 1/8 Electric Truggy to secure the overall TQ! The Triple A-Mains for the 1/8 Electric Truggy class would be 8-Minutes each. Team Orion's Phend would lay down a perfect run to take the Win in A-Main #1! Then Team Orion's Maifield would answer back to Win A-Main #2 and force the ROAR National Championship to the 3rd and final A-Main. Maifield and Phend would battle it out for the entire 8-Minutes in A-Main #3, Maifield would cross the finish line 1st just ahead of Phend by only a car length to Win his 1st ROAR National Championship of the weekend! Congrats also to Team Orion Factory Driver Jared Tebo for finishing 4th overall!
