1/8 Offroad Euro 2015 – Davide Ongaro junior champion with LRP!

The young Italian sensationally finishes 4th and wins the Junior European Champion title on his home track in Sacile, Italy. Elliott Boots is European Champion ahead of reigning champion David Ronnefalk.

An eventful and thrilling week of racing has come to an end. British driver Elliott Boots is the new 1/8 Offroad European Champion – his first major title at an international RC event. After having secured the TQ spot, reigning champion David Ronnefalk had to settle for the second place. Italy’s Alex Zanchettin completed the podium on the third place.

14-year old Davide Ongaro was the best LRP powered driver at the Ongaroring. The Italian top talent equipped his Mugen car with LRP ZZ.21C Ceramic Spec.2 Nitro Competition Engine, LRP Screamer-93 Exhaust System and further LRP Nitro Accessories. On his home track, Davide performed an impressive final. Starting from the second position behind David Ronnefalk, he was even able to take the lead for a while, but the highly competitive field of drivers punished even the smallest mistake. In the end, only three drivers were faster than Davide. By finishing fourth overall, he took a well deserved Junior European Champion title. Congratulations, Davide!

It was also Davide’s support who made a major contribution to his fourth place and title. Davide’s dad Mauro, LRP team manager Andy Krämer and Italy’s legendary RC mechanic “Verri” gave it everything. The LRP ZZ.21C Ceramic Spec.2 engine was perfectly set up. No loss of power and no problems, neither during the complete 45-minute final nor during all week of racing. Even the hot weather conditions at the beginning of the event didn’t have any bad influence on the performance and reliability of the engine.

Last but not least, the venue of the event has to be mentioned. The Ongaroring in Sacile, Italy was absolutely worthy of a European Championship. The 310m course offered everything drivers can expect from an offroad track and it remained rugged until the end – a fact that was doubted by some drivers at the beginning. Everybody enjoyed an event with a super track, perfect organisation and first-class food. Many thanks to Mauro Ongaro with his team and the AMSCI (Auto Model Sport Club Italiano) – you were great hosts.
