Race report by Tom Claerhout:

The 2nd Annual Thumb RC Championship Point Series continued on July 25th at Thumb RC in Gagetown, MI. The series features 1/8 to 1/18 scale electric classes for all skill level drivers. Despite a chance of showers in the afternoon, the forecast did not dampen the turnout. A record 80 entries were seeded as qualifying began.

The track layout is changed for every race at Thumb RC and this layout did not disappoint. The old school dirt soil features a curving whoop section, several double jumps, a wall corner and a hill in the back of the track that offers step ups and step downs. Two rounds of qualifying were finished by 3 PM when the storms finally hit.

The track received over an inch of rain. The racers would not let this ruin their day though. Nearly all of the drivers grabbed a shovel, broom or rake and started to help drain the track. By 6 PM, the program was back underway and the mains were run. Thank you racers!
