Though ROAR has sanctioned a national championship in the U.S. for the electric 1/8-scale buggy class since 2010, the class took a few more years to gain a solid foothold across the pond. The first official EFRA European Championship for the class was held last weekend at WMW RC-Buggy Racing Center in Fehring, Austria, with many of the continent’s top off-road racers in attendance for a chance to win the title.

Top qualifier Robert Batlle won the final ahead of David Ronnefalk and Jörn Neumann, while fellow LRP-powered Mugen Seiki driver Davide Ongaro finished fourth - earning the Junior title.

Final results:

  1. Robert Batlle - Mugen Seiki/LRP
  2. David Ronnefalk - HB
  3. Jörn Neumann - Serpent
  4. Davide Ongaro - Mugen Seiki/LRP
  5. Jürgen Trieb - Muten Seiki
  6. Martin Bayer - XRAY
  7. Martin Wollanka - XRAY/LRP
  8. Hupo Hönigl - Serpent
  9. Jérôme Sartel - TLR
  10. Joseph Quagraine - JQ Racing/LRP
  11. David Hassel - Kyosho
  12. Andreas Scharinger - Kyosho

Batlle posted the following to Facebook regarding the win:

"Yes! 1/8 Ebuggy Euro Champions! Super happy about the weekend, the whole package worked awesome! I would like to thank all my sponsors and especially LRP for helping me with the electronics all weekend!"
