Shay cashes in at the Run for the Riches 3 with his RC8B3
This weekend the Run for the Riches 3 race was held in Knoxville, TN at the ROCCK. The event drew in more than 150 entries, and everything ran super smooth. Practice was held on Friday, while qualifiers and mains were on Saturday. I ran in the Pro Buggy and Pro EBuggy classes for the event.
We made the 5-hour drive up from Georgia Friday morning, and started to get some practice in around 3:00p.m. or so that afternoon. The track layout was great, had some good rhythm, and was very fast. Qualifying went well, and I was able to solidify the TQ in Pro EBuggy with my RC8B3e. I was able to qualify second overall in Pro Buggy running the new RC8B3, coming up just short of TQ by less than a second.
The Pro EBuggy race was first, and it was a good race. A few small mistakes by myself and a couple of issues with lapped traffic caused some problems, but I was able to come away with second place behind Barry Pettit. The Pro Nitro main had some very intense battles between myself, Barry Pettit, and Eddie Cordoba. I was able to slowly create some distance between myself and the others, and come away with the overall win.
It was an awesome event as usual, and the Team Associated cars were on point all weekend long! I'm excited to see what 2016 has in store with Team Associated.
