One of the closest and most competitive Reedy Races of the modern era was nailed shut with one heat remaining on Sunday evening, as Team Losi Racing driver Dakotah Phend sprinted from fifth on the grid to the front of the pack on the first lap, winning his heat by over 13 seconds to mathematically clinch the title. The Michigan native scored a title that had eluded him for the last five years - a drought during which his best finish was fourth.
