Yeung and Law cashed in at Sunpadow Strait Cup

Jonathan Yeung and Felix Law win Sunpadow Strait Cup offroad competition

After the successful China National Championship race in Dec-2015, Xiamen ARC International Raceway hosted the Sunpadow Strait Cup offroad competition last weekend and attract around 200 entries to race in two classes - 1/8 EP Buggy and 1/8 GP Buggy. Top racers from Hong Kong, Macau, Korea, Thailand, Singapore, Taiwan, Malaysia and Mainland China attended this race. ARC International Raceway is constructed inside the 3-Circles Battery Ltd. Industrial Park with raceway size 70m x 40m, and with world-class facility to host high level race event.

3-Circles Battery Factory Team driver, 13 years old Jonathan Yeung from Hong Kong driving Hot Bodies D815 & D815E in GP Buggy class and E-Buggy class respectively. Due to bad weather conditions, E-Buggy race without mains final and determine overall ranking based on qualify round result. Again Jonathan demonstrate his speed and consistency by claiming TQ+A1 in E-Buggy class, 2nd car by Sam Chen from Taiwan and 3rd car by Mr. Ngai also from Taiwan. Jonathan also setting fastest lap time record in this track layout with 34.674sec.

In GP Buggy class, Jonathan was started in 3rd position in A main final and he took the lead after pole position car (Felix Law from Hong Kong) flipped over in the first lap. Jonathan took the lead and extend the lead to almost one whole lap to 2nd car, after 25min race. When people start thinking how many laps of margin Jonathan will win after 50min race, his car suddenly slowed down and found that there is failure in throttle servo and not able to continue the race. The 2nd car drove by Felix Law took the chance and keep the leading position until race finished. The followed car is by Wu Wei Ping from China and 3rd position car is by JJ Wang, a famous driver for on road car, this is the first attempt of JJ to race in 1/8 offroad buggy classes and got very good results.
