Maifield and Rivkin won shortened Sidewinder Nitro Explosion [VIDEO]

The 13th running of the Sidewinder Nitro Explosion was condensed into a one-day affair at RC Tracks of Las Vegas last weekend due to the lower-than-expected turnout of 109 entries spread across seven racing classes.

Even still, several pro drivers used the event as an opportunity to log more track time ahead of this year’s World Championships, with racers like Ryan Maifield, Dakotah Phend, defending IFMAR winner Ty Tessmann, Adam Drake, Spencer Rivkin and more all in attendance.

Team Losi Racing driver Dakotah Phend earned the TQ by setting the fastest time in two of the three rounds of Pro Buggy, but a disastrous first lap was all his teammate, Ryan Maifield, needed to speed away with the win. Here are the full results and Pro class replays from the weekend in Vegas:
