Race report by Ray Munday:

Team Associated Young Guns on Top at Victorian 4wd Titles

Team Associated youngsters Cameron Zammit (4w mod and Truck mod) and Jordan Isergin (4w 17.5) have won the re-run of the Victorian Titles at the Keilor track in Melbourne, Australia.

Following a rainout of the 4wd day of the event in May, the event was re-run on the same track In September. Heavy overnight rains threatened to spoil the event for a 2nd time – however thanks to big efforts from the track crew, the track was salvaged and after a wet round 1 the track grooved up through the day to make for fantastic racing in all classes.  JConcepts control tyres (Blue 3D) were used in all classes.

4w 17.5: 11year old Jordan Isergin (B44.3) showed he is a star of the future with TQ and 1st in this hotly contested class. The finals were very close with a 3 way tie between Jordan and the vastly experienced Simon McHugh and Leigh Cheeseman, Jordan taking the win virtue of a very fast winning time in A3.

4w mod: Qualifying was a battle between 15 year old Zammit and AE / Reedy teammate Ray Munday, coming down to a last lap battle with Zammit taking TQ. A1 and A2 were very close with less than 0.5s separating the two but it was Zammit taking the overall win from Munday. 3rd overall was taken by 10 year old Lachlan Munday after a very mature drive – the youngest driver to achieve a modified class podium at this level in living memory. Andrew Selvaggi finished 4th making it a 1-4 sweep for the B44.3.

Truck mod:

Zammit made it a double for the event with TQ and win in the modified truck class (T5M / Reedy). AE teammate Andrew Selvaggi (T5M / Hobbywing) kept him honest in 2nd place and Luke Chmielewski finished 3rd.

Thanks to everyone from the club who worked so hard to prepare the track and run the event despite mother natures efforts and thanks to all who attended the event!
