Karlsen clinched OMK Fall Series title with round six victory

XB2 wins OMK Fall Classic Race Series R6

Yesterday I attended round #6 of the OMK / Way To Win - 2WD Fall Classic race series. The race series is run over 8 rounds on OMK's Astro track partially under the flood lights in the evening. Race format consists of open free practice and then 3 qualifiers and 3 finals. As usual I was running my '17 XRAY XB2 CE with the new layout and JConcepts Swagger and Lockness astro tires combined with ORCA electronics.

As opposed to the previous round this time the track was dry, although very cold, so traction was quite good for the evening.

For the 3 qualifying rounds I was easily able to put in the only 15 lap runs of qualifying to take the overall TQ of the evening.

For the start of the first A-final I was able to quickly work up a small gap to the rest when the heat was stopped due to a problem with the lap counting software.

For the restart of the first final I started out really good but then I ran a corner too close, flipped over and needed marshaling. By the the time I rejoined the race I was dead last. Thankfully I was able to get back to 3rd relatively quickly and could start to put pressure on the 2nd place driver. Eventually he made a mistake and I could start the hunt for 1st. After putting in a couple of fast laps I was beginning to put pressure on him and when he ran wide in a corner starting the very last lap I was able to pass him on the inside and open up a small gap to take the win.

For the 2nd A-final I was able to open up a gap from start and never looked back crossing the finish line with a comfortable lead.

Took the overall win for the evening and also secured the overall for the series with my 4 wins out of 4 attempts. With only 2 more rounds to go the other drivers can't collect enough points to challenge me for the overall :)
