Another Wins for Rob Janssen / Team Magic E4RS III Plus at MRC Vianen Cup !

Team Magic dutch drivers, Rob Janssen and Richard Arts, participated the 2016-2017 MRC Vianen Cup round 3.

Rob won the race with his Team Magic E4RS III Plus, while his teammate Richard finished 5th of 22 racers.

Great job !

Original report from Rob Janssen:

The first run of qualification was in fact a practice run as nobody had the chance to do some laps before. For me, a practice run would be nice as now I found out in Q1 I was driving with a wrong gear ratio. I was driving with 4.50 instead of the 4.00 which is allowed. Duo to lack of speed i was not able to drive a TQ run.

Lucky enough for me Q2 run was a lot better with some more top speed. This run was almost without mistakes and good enough for a safe TQ.

Ronald Arts on second and Michel Peterse (local driver) on third. Robert Krens, normally my biggest competitor here, started from 4th spot.

All three finals were pretty easy for me as from TQ I had a good start in all finals and behind me everybody was busy battling which costed them a lot of time.

I made some small adjustments on shock oil at the rear and on the camberlinks both front and rear compared to last time. This because last time I felt the car was lifting a rear wheel sometimes and it felt like it would rollover soon. I tried to make some improvements to prevent this from happening. The car was really easy and quick at the same time.

Let’s hope it is fast enough for ETS in a few weeks !

Original report from Richard Arts:

After a couple of weeks without racing, it was time again for the 3rd round of the MRC cup in Vianen. This time no practice laps before qualifying, as decided by the race director. This was done to deny “guest racers” the unfair advantage of practice while club members are still busy with preparing the temporary race track. A shame this was needed, but maybe next time we will all help so there is time for everyone to do some practice laps.

My qualification didn’t go that well, having some trouble with staying on the race line after the steering rack thought it could do better without me “ interfering”. After tightening the screws, and giving all other screws a “ double check”, the 2nd quali did go much better. However still a bit rusty, and missing rotation in the corners I qualified 7th in the A-main.

In the first final, the opening lap went without the (almost “traditional”) first corner carnage. Settling into a nice rhythm I could gain a couple of spots, and managing to barely avoid two crashed cars I could finish 3rd.

I guess the other races learned from the first final, as driving was cleaner, and a lot harder for me to gain some spots. Second final I finished 5th.

In the 3rd final I got stuck behind Jan in the number 6 car. I was only a tiny bit faster, but I just couldn’t get passed. We lightly touched each other, and I had to wait and give the position back. This allowed the car #8 car to get passed, and I finished 8th.

Not quite the result in the end, but still enjoyed the close racing.
