Round 2 of the Texas EOS was held this past weekend at the Tyler RC Complex located in Tyler, Texas. TRCC is a black CRC carpet facility, and home to the biggest indoor onroad track in Texas. Set up as a permanent layout, the high speed circuit has a unique turf curbing, which drastically cuts down on damage and the breaking of parts when mishaps occur.

The always exciting Modified Sedan class was extremely competitive with Chris Adams and John Hodges going back and forth on lap times. In the end, however, Chris was able to secure TQ by a few seconds, and go on to win the Amain a comfortable margin.

The 17.5 Sedan class offered up the closest racing of the weekend with the 1st-5th position separated by a mere 3 seconds throughout qualifying. The tight qualifying would only foreshadow the extremely competitive Amain. In the main event, the field snaked around the track for the first 2 minutes before racers began jockeying for position. In an attempt to make an aggressive pass on leader and TQ setter Chris Kemper, 2nd place Andrew Doherty would bump the leader causing the pair to get tangled up. 3rd place runner Johnee Fenimore was there to take advantage of the incident, which allowed him to slip past and take the lead position. Despite making the two best passes of the weekend in an attempt to catch up, Kemper could not work his way back to catch Johnee who would hold on for the win.

The 25.5 Sedan class has become the new "stock" in Texas. Top qualifier Larry Meyers continued where he left off in round 1 of the EOS by dominating the 25.5 Sedan class and blistering the track record. At the start of the Amain, a small tangle between #3 and #4 qualifiers Doug Bryson and Dan Meyer bunched up the field, which allowed Meyers and the #2 qualifier Steve Crane, who was the previous track record holder, to pull a small gap on the field. Jay Black battled his way from out of the B main to pass Joe Maxey and Bryson late in the race to take a well-deserved 3rd place.

The USGT class featured one of the larger fields with 20 plus racers battling the super-fast layout. Several racers were able to break the previous track record, but after 3 rounds of qualifying, a TRCC local favorite, Jay Black, would walk away with the fastest lap and TQ honors. In the A main, Jay jumped out to an early commanding lead while less than 2 seconds separated 2nd thru 5th for most of the race. The exciting battle between the three blue Cadillac’s of Sean Bloch, Sophoan ”Soap” Yem and Cameron Crane allowed Jeff Whiting to catchup and join the battle after an early race tangle. Jay fiercely paced the field leading wire to wire for his first Texas EOS Series podium and victory. “Soap” held on for second and Sean Bloch came in a close third.

In 17.5 12th scale, Johnee Fenimore lead the pace all day long. At the start of qualifying, Fenimore easily lead by two laps up on the field. However, by the end of qualifying, the rest of the field had started to figure out their cars and challenge Fenimore for the top spot. However, in the end, Fenimore would take the TQ honors, and cruise to an easy win as the intense battle for second would keep the rest of the field at bay.

Round 3 of the TEOS will be held at N-Control RC Racing Circuit in Dale, Texas on April 2nd.
