Ellis, Clarke and Debique won third annual Caribbean Invitaitonal

Ellis, Clarke & Debique walked away with top positions at the Caribbean Invitational 3

August 11 – 13, 2017 was the 3rd staging of the Caribbean Invitational Competition in Kingston Jamaica. The event featured classes of 1/10 Nitro & Electric Touring Classes and 1/8 Nitro Gt class and was represented by racers from Grand Cayman, Trinidad & Tobago, USA and Jamaica.

1/10 Nitro Touring
Mike Clarke started out on pole position but unfortunately developed car problems and the lead was taken over by Romell Whittaker (Grand Cayman) driving a Mugen. Whittaker had some serious challenge from Chad Chang (Jamaica) who hounded him with his Kyosho for the first positon. Whittaker and Chang developed problems; they repaired and came back also with fresh set of tires but this was never enough to stop Lascelles Ellis (Jamaica) with Mugen from snatching the victory with his pit and tire strategy. The final results are Ellis 1st, Chang 2nd and Whittaker 3rd.

1/10 Electric Touring
Mike Clarke driving Xray won the 1st and 3rd mains of the triple main competition with Gary Sailsman (3rd overall) driving a Team Magic walked topped the winnings of the second round of the triple mains. Chad Chang had a more consistent run for all triple mains with his Xray and was able to walk away the 2nd position. The final results for the race are Clarke 1st, Chang 2nd and Sailsman 3rd.

1/8 Nitro GT
The 1/8 Nitro GT podium was a 1, 2 & 3 for Serpent with Andy Debique from out of Trinidad & Tobago holding on to both the 1st and TQ positions. Throughout the race he was under constant threat from Douglas Grey (Jamaica) who finished 2nd and had his sights set on the 1st position. However; Grey had his share of competition from Steve St. Louis (Trinidad & Tobago) who took over the 2nd position during the race but lost it due to mechanical troubles. Jason Drydale out of Trinidad & Tobago capitalized on the demise of St. Louis and took the 3rd place podium position.
