Arrowmax Asia Race Cup 2017 Hong Kong Race 1 - Race report

The Arrowmax Asia Race Cup 2017 Hong Kong series had complete successfully at the Twin RC Speedway last weekend. With the highly competitive nature of the Hong Kong racing scene, the race proved to be hotly contested with only one class TQ driver are successful to convert a TQ to race win. With the Dash 13.5T Stock class once again prove to be the most popular class, the completion level in general are high across all three classes. 



TQ honour for the Dash 13.5T stock class belongs to Ivan Fung but not without any competition, James Pong is always hot on the heels and at time seems to have TQ in his bag.  The final take a very different turn with James Pong clearly dominating and will go on and winning all 3 finals, with this to claim the crown for the first round of the Hong Kong Leg. Ivan will have to settle for second and Polo will round out the podium. 

Dash 13.5T Stock A-main final result:

  1. James Pong (Hong Kong)
  2. Ivan Fung (TQ) (Hong Kong)
  3. Polo (Hong Kong)

The Arrowmax Modified touring class is a show case for two veteran: PC Boy and Stick King. With PC Boy drawing the first blood and taking the TQ honour after 5 rounds of qualifing, the final was a tight affair and will go down to the last final before a winner can be declare. With Stick King taking the first round and PC the second final, the momentum are clearly shifting towards PC, with a few mistake early on from Stick, PC will go on and take the final round with a 3 seconds gap. With two rounds of third place finish, Ivan will round out the podium for this exciting class.

Arrowmax Modified A-main Final result:

  1. PC Boy (TQ) (Hong Kong)
  2. Stick King (Hong Kong)
  3. Ivan (Hong Kong)



In the Dash 21.5T Formula class, TQ was a fight between Derick Wu and Paul Yip, with the former go on and taking the TQ for the round. The final was a very different story however, with 3rd place qualifier Joe Lo taking the first round, with Paul and Derick follow behind. The second A-main final will again have a different winner with Derick taking the round follow by Paul and Joe. Advantage will goto Derick with a faster finish time on his second A-main but all 3 are still in a chance for the win. On the third final, Joe will prevail with the best run of the day and taking the win, Derick will finish second and will end the race at the same position. Paul will have to settle for 3rd with two second place finish.

Dash 21.5T Formula A-main final result:

  1. Joe Lo (Hong Kong)
  2. Derick Wu (TQ) (Hong Kong)
  3. Paul Yip (Hong Kong)

The 2017 Arrowmax Asia Race Cup had already started in Beijing, Shanghai, guanZhou, Singapore and Malaysia. For the 2017 season, three classes are being run including: The Arrowmax Modified Class, the Dash 13.5T Pro Stock class and the Dash Formula 1 class, with the later two classes using control motors made by Dash.

The grand finale will be held in the world famous Japan Yatabe Arena on 13th to 14th, January 2018. Every country/district will held 3 rounds of points series with the winner(Non-sponsor driver) of the Pro Stock and Formula 1 class getting a free ticket to attend the Grand final in Japan.
