Race Report by Reedy:

The sixth and final round of the BRCA 1:12 Nationals took place in Chesterfield on March 15-16. As usual, Reedy was well represented with factory drivers Olly Jefferies and Mark Stiles on hand to support the many privateers using Reedy products.

In Saturday’s 10.5 stock class, the race was between Olly and David Spashett for the round win and overall championship. David won the final and with it the title, while a late error dropped Olly from the top three. But consistent finishes in the previous round earned him enough points for second place in the championship. Mark Stiles drove consistently throughout the series and finished the season in the fourth position. Even though the Reedy duo fell just short, privateer Spashett used a Sonic 540 Mach 2 motor during his championship campaign.

Olly and Mark both fared better in Sunday’s Modified class. The pair had already secured 1-2 in the championship prior to this event and continued with that form for this meeting. Olly was in his usual dominant form — TQ by a full lap followed by a comfortable win ahead of Adam Walker-Catchpole. Mark Stiles finished third for his fifth podium finish in six events. On his way to the championship title, Olly qualified on the pole in each round and led every lap of every A-final race!

The BRCA 1:12 Nationals are now finished until October, but there will be plenty of racing over the summer months to keep the British 1:12 fanatics occupied. The EFRA European Championships, Chesterfield Summer Shootout, West Kent GP, and various club and regional events mean there’s plenty of racing available. With this being a world championship year, Olly and Mark will be looking to prepare as well as they can in the coming months before traveling to Orlando, Florida in October.
