The First Annual SWorkz Challenge did not disappoint with over $3500 worth of sponsorships up for grabs, a flowy massive track with whip-inducing jumps and thousands in raffle prizes all held at A Main’s world-famous Silver Dollar R/C Raceway. Thanks to race sponsors SWorkz, Pro-Line, Picco and ProTek R/C, Derek Wood and Jonathan Hernandez are now factory-backed racers ready to up their game. Wood and Hernandez split wins in the Open 1:8 Buggy and Truck divisions earning the coveted Challenge sponsorship packages worth over $3,500 a piece. Both racers will run Picco-powered SWorkz vehicles on Pro-Line rubber with ProTek providing all of the support gear they will need for racing.

SWorkz/A Main’s Atsushi Hara showed again why he is one of the most decorated R/C racers of all time. Having to battle fellow A Main drivers Drew Moller and Ryan Lutz in qualifying, Hara sat second on the grid for the Pro Buggy main just behind Lutz. A consistent main event and some unfortunate flameouts for Moller allowed Hara to cruise out front to the victory. Lutz had mechanical issues as well and had to pull his buggy from the track several minutes before the clock wound down. Moller would end up second with TLR/A Main’s Philip Atondo grabbing the final podium spot. In Pro Truck it was all Moller who TQed the class and would go onto to take the win. A Main’s Ryan the “Lutzinator” Lutz would grab second with TLR/A Main’s Philip Atondo taking third again.
