Press release from XRAY:

T4 wins South African National Onroad Championship R3
Race report by Heine Herholdt

The third leg of the South African National Onroad Championship was held at DMCC Raceway in Durban, KZN over the 12th and 13th July 2014.

Although it is winter in South Africa at the moment Durban is known for its much warmer climate. With 9 Drivers just returning from the ETS Final in Slovakia everyone knew that it was going to be a very Important Event as far as points are concerned. Only a few of the returning drivers attended the event but in the end it was just as epic as if all of them were there. The track is situated next to the highway at Southway mall, originally a GAS track with long open straights and a flowing infield it has been used for electric only the last two years. Dave Wiseman and his team always make sure that the drivers have a great time when visiting their facilities.

In 21.5T Open Stock it was Neville Menezes with his XRAY T4  that dominated once again taking TQ and the Overall Win with Shane Kok and Paul van der Westhuizen in tow.

The 17.5T Touring Championship was up for grabs at this event with Ashley Hurley from VBC needing a TQ and win to wrap up the Championship. Saturday he managed to take TQ and all eyes were on him in Sunday's final. Perhaps it was the pressure but he was denied the win by his team mate Willem Janse van Rensburg who came up the ranks at the event to absolutely dominate the finals. Willem took the overall win with Andre Greeff (XRAY) in 2nd and Ashley Hurley in 3rd to round up the podium.

Touring Modified was the scrap we have all been waiting for. Jason Hillcoat (XRAY) took TQ with Shaun Scutte (XRAY) starting on the number 2 spot after Hein Kotze had a problem with his transponder. Hein managed to qualify 3rd and we all knew that this was going to be an Epic Final. Hein took the win in the First Final so it was all up to Jason to keep him at bay. Jason managed to defend the first place for all 13 laps but after running a bit wide in the bowl Hein managed to get on the inside on the last lap to take the Second Win. Needless to say the overall win went to Hein Kotze with Jason Hillcoat (XRAY) in 2nd and Shaun Schutte (XRAY) in 3rd.
