Race report from Midwest Nitro Series (by Ryan Klemme):

Where do we begin on this race report? The awesome layout, the yummy food, the great weather, or the fact that we just raced at LiveRc Raceway?!? But as always I need to use one word to describe this round as I do with all my rounds.... Okay one word to describe Round 5 of the MWNS is WET! I do not know if any other track in the states would have been able to pull off a race day after getting hammered with 4 plus inches of rain the morning prior but Brandon Rhode was on a mission and dug trenches in his lawn and had a tractor lined up to pull out anyone that would get stuck including a 30 ft motor home.

Now before we get to far I always want to thank the sponsors of the MWNS as in my opinion we have some the best guys on board with the biggest series in the Midwest. RcRenew, BuKu, LFR, Competition Heat, Alpha, RW Mods, RC Scoring Pro, Advantage Racing. CSI, Panther, Picco, Max Amps, VP Pro USA, Boca Bearings, Viper, 92Zero, PT Oils. So please let these guys know that you are great full for what they do for this hobby.

Mod SC
Kyle Cooper would grab the TQ in the first round of qualifying but it would be Mike McVay that would step it up in rounds 2 and 3 to take the overall TQ with Kyle starting 2nd on the grid. But come main time Kyle would get everything to go his way with a win over Mike as well as setting the fastest lap time by 3 tenths of a second.

Mod 4x4 SC
Steve Richter would take the first round of qualifying just nudging out the 4x4 SC master Allen Richards by a couple of seconds, so Allen would have to step up his game if he wanted to be at the top for the main and when he came back out for round 2 and 3 that's exactly what he did resetting the TQ each round securing the TQ going into the main. Allen would not look back once the tone started taking the win by 2 laps over second place Mike Taylor, Steve Richter would have problems and he would retire around the half way point finishing in 5th place.

It would be a battle between Steve Richter and Alex Kahne going into the 3rd round of qualifying to see who would take the TQ as they each had a TQ and a second place finish so far. After the final buzzer went off it would be Steve taking the TQ over Alex but Alex ran consistent each round and finished within 5 seconds of himself each round. But in the Main event it would be all about Shane Kohls who qualified in the 20th spot and bumped into the A-Main, he would get the lead and check out putting a lap on the field in the 20 minute final.

George Nikolaou would show his speed in the first round of qualifying setting the pace then it would be Dave Smrekar flexing his muscles in the 2nd round shattering Georges TQ by a full lap then in the 3rd round George would come out swinging and take another TQ putting him in the overall TQ for the main. George would suffer a couple of flameouts in the main ruining his chances of winning, which would let Dave breath easy and put in consistent laps taking the win.

Allen Richards came out the first qualifier on fire and setting the early TQ then Serpent driver Paul Ciccarello would grad the second and third rounds just nudging out TLR driver Collin Weatherholt by less than a seconds each round. But Collin was hungry for a win and laid it down in the main with a close battle with Paul only winning by 5 seconds at the buzzer. The real excitement was the battle between 4/5/6 as they would all finish roughly one second apart.

Serpent driver Mike Truhe would grab the TQ in the first 2 rounds, but JQ driver Derek Weatherholt would be right in the shadows ready to strike and he did in the 3rd round which put him starting off in the second spot, with TLR drivers Tyler Jones and Collin Weatherholt starting in 3rd and 4th. Mike Truhe would take the TQ and the win Derek and Collin Weatherholt would be in a battle until the end with Derek beating Collin by just a couple of seconds Tyler Jones would finish in 2nd place charging hard at the end but running out of time.

With 92Zero owner Zac Rose putting his 3.0 inbto the number 2 spot for the main with some hot laps in qualifying. Tyler would end up winning the main 2 laps up on the field with Zac Rose in 2nd place AE driver Cole Tollard would finish in 3rd place.

Dash4Cash which has been sponsored by Lance at Tritonrc.com (http://Tritonrc.com) is a race we did since round 2, how it works is raffle tickets are purchased for a prize (Picco engine in our case) ALL of the money that is raised during the day from the raffle sales is paid out to the racers of the class being raced that round. So we take the A-main drivers from the class and they have a 5 min main with NO marshals once you crash you are out of the race it also has an inverted start to make it even more interesting. Again a HUGE thanks goes out to Lance at Tritonrc.com (http://Tritonrc.com) he is a class act. And also all of the racers that bought tickets and won the engines I hope you enjoy them. This was definitely a highlight at each event.
