Race report from InfoRC:

Last weekend took place the 3rd round of the Spanish Nats 1/8 off road in Redován, Alicante. Robert Batlle won this race doing a 3/4 victories with one race still to be celebrated in november, so he already is national champion. That means 9 years in a row!! But this year it’s been a little more difficult for Batlle, as he had two great contenders: Oscar Baldó during the first round of the championship, Antas, where he almost beat Batlle, losing the first position against him in the very last lap. The same scenario took place yesterday with his brother Bryan.

Redovan’s track is a very difficult, technical and long (1 minute lap) track, also having many different conditions in its different parts, so results could change and switch from one lap to another. Oscar Baldó was the fastest after qualifying, but Bryan was the one who had the pole position for the final, being Batlle in 7 position in the starting grid - slightly different to the number 1 he is usually subscribed to.

During the final, Bryan Baldó, Robert Batlle and José Escudero switched 1st, 2nd and 3rd positions a lot of times, nothing being decided until the last lap, when Batlle overtook Bryan after a crash he had. To make things more interesting, Batlle had a flame out in his first refueling, deciding his mechanics to go on refueling with the fuel bottle instead of the fuel gun, to avoid the fast temperature change that can provoke an engine stall.
