Taylor Peterson capped off a strong 2014 campaign with a brilliant double win at the 20th annual Lone Star Classic, hosted by Indy R/C World in Garland, TX. The Dallas transplant originally from the Pacific Northwest set the fastest time in four of six qualifying rounds across both Truck and Buggy divisions, earning overall TQ honors in both.

Peterson led to the first pit stop of the 45-minute truck main event, when he dropped to second behind TLR teammate Josh Glancy when the latter stretched out his fuel window for an extra three laps. Peterson retook the lead when Glancy pitted, and the top two ran in formation for the remainder before Glancy flamed out with just over a lap to go, but by that point Peterson was already on pace to win by two laps - he turned his fastest time of the final with fewer than five minutes to go. After the third place spot was disputed by Justin Wheeler and Tyler Hooks throughout the final, both of whom retired from the race prematurely, Wade Moore moved up to the final spot on the podium.

The final for Expert Buggy proved only slightly more difficult for Peterson, as a mistake on lap 8 dropped him to third behind former World Champion Cody King and top U.S. XRAY pro Josh Wheeler. King ran up front for four laps until a mistake of his own put Wheeler out front and Peterson back in second. Disaster struck for Wheeler when he was knocked out of the race on lap 25 by a mechanical problem. It was all smooth sailing from that point for Peterson, who once again registered his fastest lap over 3/4 of the way through the race. He finished over a lap clear of King, who crossed the line nearly 11 seconds before Tyler Hooks to round out the podium.
