Race report from Steve Burgess:

The 2014 Toys for Tots was a huge success once again. Always held the 1st Saturday in December, this year’s event hosted 130 drivers from all over the South West. The event got started with practice on Friday as many of the top drivers came out, Mark Pavidis, Shaun Kirkman, Mike Truhe, Tanner Stees just to name a few.

The racers brought enough toys to fill the van once again making this one of SoCal’s best one-day intake for Toys for Tots. The morning kicked off with Practice and Opening Ceremony’s with our Marine from 29 Palms dressed in full uniform.

Jimmy Babcock got the racing started and was at the helm all day keeping the program running nice and smooth. At the end of the first round of qualifying we had a special support our troops race where Pro-Line Racing put together 4 Pro-2 Buggy’s with the help of Airtronics, Novak, and Rugspin Graphix.

We selected several people to go up against our Marine from 29palms. He drew the #1 car as he said it looked fast even though he had never driven an RC car in his life. After a few min of practice with some Pro driver support given by Ronda Drake and Brian Sullivan the race was on. The Buggy’s battled hard on the track and when the final tone sounded it was our Marine from 29Palms with the WIN!!! Then to his surprise Pro-Line and other sponsors donated the Buggy with all the fixings to him to keep.

Racing was fast and furious thought the day with some great battles.

Shaun Kirkman would mount an epic charge and battle with Mike Truhe in Pro Truggy.

Tanner Stees would just miss Mike Truhe in the final corner in Pro Buggy. In the end Mike Truhe would come out the victor in both.

We would like to thank all of our sponsors for the generous donations, which helped to raise over $1200 for Toys for Tots: Proline, Jammin Products, Ofna, AKA, Castle Creations, Tekno, DE Racing, MIP, Mugen, Aqua Caliente Resort & Spa, Uncle Dons Hobbies, TLR, Horizon Hobby, Team Associated, Starbucks.
