The overall championship for the Reedy Race of Champions came down to two drivers in the final round, with Jared Tebo in the first heat and Ryan Maifield in the third. The scenario was clear - if Tebo finished second, Maifield needed to finish at least second in his heat, and if Tebo won his heat, Maifield had to as well. It didn’t work out that way for Tebo, but Maifield cleaned up anyway.

Carson Wernimont took the holeshot over Tanner Denney and Atsushi Hara. Denney stuffed the pipe before the triple and and caused a huge pile up, which allowed Jared Tebo and Ryan Cavalieri into second and third. At 1:55, Tebo got out of shape in the PL Point and Cavalieri got by for second. At 4:00, Wernimont crashed before the first double on the left side and Cavalieri took the top spot - and that’s how they finished up.

Tebo’s third place finish sealed the deal for Maifield.

Drew Moller took the holeshot with Michal Orlowski second. Moller crashed coming onto the straightaway for the first time and dropped to fourth as Orlowski, Tessmann, and Evans got by. On the second lap, Orlowski rolled over through the step downs and Tessmann took the lead. At 1:35, Orlowski landed on the wrong side of the pipe over the triple and Evans moved to second. At 2:00, Orlowski hit the pipe between the doubles on the left side and Moller moved to third.

JP Richards took the holeshot ahead of Jörn Neumann, and Dakotah Phend was involved in a wreck that broke his car at :45 into the race. At 1:30, Neumann dove to the inside of Richards over the step downs, but Neumann ran wide coming onto the straightaway and Richards drove back by for the lead. At 3:00, Rivkin tried to pass Neumann in the center of the track and they tangled, which allowed Maifield - who started eighth and crossed the line in that position after lap one - into second. At 4:00, Richards crashed on the triple and dropped to fourth behind Maifield, Rivkin, and Neumann. At 4:20, Rivkin rolled in the beginning of the chicane and Neumann got by for second.

With his fist pumping, Maifield punched it down the straightaway for the final time and capped off a brilliant weekend.

After twelve rounds of racing, Ryan Maifield stood atop the podium as the winner of the twenty-first Reedy Race of Champions, finishing with a three-point lead on Jared Tebo. After a rough go in the 2WD portion of the event, two-time defending champion Ryan Cavalieri earned enough points in 4WD to take the final spot on the podium.

Congratulations to Ryan Maifield for an incredible, championship-winning weekend.
