McNair and Wilson won buggy classes at grand opening of Thornhill Racing Circuit indoor track

Team Associated/Reedy wins Thornhill Racing Circuit Jr. Grand Opening

The Grand Opening race for Thornhill Racing Circuit Jr., the new indoor track at the world renowned Thornhill Racing Circuit, was held this past Saturday, February 7th, 2015. A beautiful addition to the already stunning N.E. Austin, TX facility boasted a fun, flowing layout with challenging track conditions. They had a plethora of classes, with a total of 90 entires in all. The format was 3 rounds of qualifying and single 8 minute mains allowing 2 bump-ups from the lower mains.

Team Associated/Reedy Driver Rhett McNair, long time Texas racer, dominated the 17.5 class with his throwback RC10 Worlds Car taking the TQ and a wire to wire win.

In the highly competitive 2wd modified class, which included region hot-shoes like Rhett McNair, Mike Stoll, Andrew Tshekeche, Tyler Hooks, Kyle Wilson to name a few, Team Associated/Reedy Driver Rhett McNair lead the charge in qualifying taking Round 1 & 2 TQ honors. In Round 3 of rocket round qualifying, as the grip came up, the racers dialed in tires and chassis settings, it was Team Associated/Reedy Driver Kyle Wilson that pulled out the TQ with 15/5:01, 5 seconds ahead of the second qualifier.

In the 2wd Modified main, it was Team Associated/Reedy Driver Kyle Wilson with the holeshot and never looked back with a dominating wire to wire win, lapping all the way through 4th place, followed by Mike Stoll and Team Associated/Reedy Driver Rhett McNair coming in 3rd.
