Not only did Pro Truck finish up their qualifying rounds on Friday morning, but the Pro Electric Buggy division did as well. With a night to sleep on any necessary adjustments before making one last push toward improving one’s A-Main starting position, a battle for the overall TQ never materialized - as one of the favorites after yesterday simply sped off to a track record, clinching the overall.

“It was really good,” said Ty Tessmann, who later remarked that the track had actually deteriorated since his E-Buggy race this morning - and that it was changing drastically. An exclamation point on his mistake-free race came in the form of a rock on the face of the second double on the front straight, throwing his Tekno RC-converted HB buggy for a perfect barrel roll. Happy with both his car and his driving, Tessmann was less enthusiastic about whether or not starting the shortened final up front was an advantage. “It depends on what the whoops look like by then,” Ty said.

“It was amazing,” said Austin Blair, who added, “I made no mistakes, and just tried to go fast. I’m sure I had a bobble somewhere, but otherwise it was smooth sailing.” Switching from Soft Impacts to Super Soft Chainlinks seemed to be quite the improvement, so Blair’s strategy for the main event is simple. “Just make sure it stays together, put tires on it, and go,” said Blair.

British driver Elliott Boots was happy with his Kyosho MP9e TKI after going to thicker shock oil and lowering the ride height front and rear, acknowledging that he may not have had the all-out speed to run quickest lap times, but will still be competitive come main event time. “I wasn’t the fastest on the track but just kept it going, which is what you need really.”
