NEMO Racing's Skidmore and Currie won at NDOR and Herts

Another week, and another successful weekend for the NEMO Racing team out and about.

 

First we start up north, where young Jonny Skidmore was walking the walk. At the challenging NDOR venue, he was on form qualifying his Agama A215 in 3rd overall, and was disappointed with that as he felt but for some incidents he would have been TQ. 

 

Nevertheless, Jonny put his annoyance to good effect and would go on to take the win in the main final, proving the time he has been putting in on the Green Stuff is paying off well and he will be looking forward to Round 1 of the National series at Deerdale. Backing up Jonny, was younger brother William, who also drove well to make the main final.

 

Moving south and the good weather had brought plenty of guys out to play at the recently re-vamped Herts track. With many new features put in and the layout having changed a fair bit, there was a challenge for all to get used to it, with the old layout having been in place for a long time.

 

Qualifying saw Ollie Currie laying it down, and after a mistake in round 1 costing him that TQ he made no such mistakes in rounds 2 and 3 to take the overall TQ for the meeting in fine style. BETA tyres were featuring heavily at the head of the leaderboard with Simon Reeves, Callum Nibblet, Kevin Brunsden, Tony Truman and Karl Jackson all running at the head of the field.

 

The B final saw Tom Saggers bump his Agama A215 up into the main final, and join his team mates Ollie Currie and Tony Truman. 

 

Ollie got away at the start after a tussle with Simon Reeves, and these two guys along with Kevin Brunsden were making a break at the head of the field and stretching away. Tony Truman made a first lap error and then compounded that with two further errors in quick succession to put himself right to the back of the pack. Meanwhile Ollie was doing everything right and keeping himself at the head of the pack. Simon and Kevin were chasing hard, but couldn’t quite get on the tail of Ollie and apart from during the pit stops he was comfortable. Tony was staging his own comeback, and once he had cleared the mid pack, he really started to put some quick laps together and was the quickest guy on the track consistently. His sustained pace was good enough to bring him right back to towards the front and going into the final lap he was in 3rd chasing down Simon Reeves for 2nd, sadly for Simon he would run out of fuel with half a lap to go leaving Tony to complete an Agama 1-2 on the top of the podium. Kevin Brunsden came home an eventual 3rd making it a BETA and Bullitt podium lockout.
