This past weekend Jerome Treignier and Rohan Grant had me out to Chester, NY for the New York Classic. This would be my first time racing in New York so I was excited to cross another state off the list. The location was at Barnstormers which has been around for a long time and Joey the Dirt came in to build the great track.

Upon arrival we had a day of electric only practice on Friday. So it turned out to be a very nice relaxing day running some E-buggy and helping prep the track for the weekend. On Friday the track was a blast to drive being very smooth but pretty loose. So I was having fun doing a bit of a drift session around the track. The track kept you busy as it seemed you were always on throttle and or steering at all times.

Saturday morning they allowed some Nitro practice as everyone for the most part showed up that morning. The turnout wasn’t what was expected but those that did attend were treated to a lot of track time and some gorgeous weather (outside of the wind and mini tornado!) During the afternoon we did 3 rounds of qualifying which kept me quite busy while running 3 classes with just 9 heats of racing. I was able to TQ every run though and began to have more fun with the layout as a couple of jumps made for some good whip action!

Sunday was one more round of quals before we headed into the main events. E-buggy had a triple A-main, Nitro Truggy with a 30 min main, and Nitro buggy with a 45min main event. These were all pretty darn close to back-to-back so it made for a couple hours straight of standing which i’m still feeling in my calves 2 days later! The mains went well for me though and I was able to dip under the 30 second lap mark in E-buggy (29.9) and Nitro Truggy (29.3). My Truggy was, as always, completely dialed. My buggies weren’t to shabby either and I came away with Hat trick with 3 more TQ’s and victories to add to my Tekno collection.

I had a great time at the event and met some great people. Thanks to Alvin Crowder for saying it was my birthday at Outback so I could finally get some ice cream! Also it was a pleasure to meet Tekno Teammates Tucker and Zach Sampiere who are a wonderful father and son team in the North East. Truly a blessing to meet such wonderful people in this hobby!

2 more weeks in a row for me with Nats Warmup/Sworks challenge this week followed by Stateliness King of Kings the following week! Busy times! :-)
