In 1982, the budding organization International Federation of Model Auto Racing - IFMAR - organized a world championship for a new class of racing chassis; 1/12-scale 2WD pan cars. With 8-minute races testing the endurance of drivers and equipment in what's regarded as one of the most technically precise racing disciplines in radio control racing, it's perhaps no surprise that four drivers have won more than three titles each.
