A Moment with Mike is a weekly opinion column where LiveRC’s Mike Garrison gives his take on hot-button issues, general topics, and conversations within the RC industry. The views and opinions expressed in this article do not necessarily reflect the official policy or position of LiveRC.

As part of the LiveRC staff which receives an inbox full of emails daily regarding new products, announcement, race reports, etc., I am also fortunate enough to have a spam box full of emails from local singles looking to date, the prince of an unknown country looking to pass along $4 million if I can simply provide my social security number and credit card information, and the infamous “YOU MUST SEE THIS” subject line with an attachment of the latest virus. Every once in awhile the email server can’t decide if something is spam or not, so it sneaks through to my inbox. 99.9% of the them I can identify them immediately as spam, send them to the spam folder, and delete forever. The remaining .1% are those who sneak through and trick me into opening them.

This morning I was all smiles, as I received an email with the subject line “Keep up the great work, your articles are great”

I am always happy to hear from a reader, possibly receive a compliment, and know that what I have written is actually being read. Monday morning is always one that could use a little jump-start, and an email like this is exactly what I needed to get motivated today.  With a slightly inflated ego, a big smile, and feeling proud, I opened the email to further read my satisfied viewer’s letter.

"Hello Sir/Ma'am,

Being a health blogger, I am a regular reader of your blog. I do truly like you way of researching and writing the blog with unique style and in easy way. I specially liked your article in which you showcased different aspects of considering the health of your liver.

As you have large number of followers, your blog carry unique content with an easy module of language to cater many people to be be a part of it.

Since you publish guest posts of different blog authors on your niche, I request that you should also give me an opportunity to present my blog on your niche as it has a quality content and is of a real value.

I understand the value and quality you need for the content and I assure you for giving such conditions added with it. Awaiting your positive response.

Regards,
Mr. Kumar"

Mr. Kumar, you have successfully become the .1% email which made it into my inbox, with a subject line that I may or may not have treated myself to an extra donut with this morning. I want to thank you for your kind words and close attention to my articles and work. Often my articles can be interpreted many different ways, and clearly somewhere between starting a rear motor revival and calendar clashing between race tracks, you have found an entirely new interpretation of what I have written about remote control cars towards considering the health of your liver. As your email put me in such a good mood to start the morning, I refuse to think that your spam sending email service picked up the word “Liver” in “LiveRC”, and assumed I am a health blogger, therefore I am going to carry on my day feeling proud and very thankful for your kind words and support. Your viewership is greatly appreciated, and I hope to see you at the track soon…with the healthiest of liver.
