JR Mitch tests and reviews the JConcepts "Hybrids" 1:8 buggy tires

 

Our good pal and legendary racer, JR Mitch, is always working hard to provide fellow racers with support on and off the race track. Via his JRMitch.net site, he has shared with us his latest monthly product review. This month he gives his thoughts and opinions on the JConcepts Hybrids 1:8 buggy tires. 

 

 

For this month’s product view, I decided to change it up a bit and introduce everyone to the 1/8th side of JConcepts and the hybrid 1/8th scale buggy tire. I’ve been out of the gas seen for sometime now, but I still find the time to get out and run my TLR 8 3.0.

The Hybrids are all the rage and the combination of the most popular JConcepts tires available. A mid-lug design with unique inner Crowbar center lug DNA, the Hybrid is built for speed and ultimate high-speed control and handling. Supported lug control and X-braced sidewall lug detail is designed to go the distance in long qualifiers, final main events, and beyond.

Continuous testing showed a smaller pin height being an advantage in many conditions and particularly when sharp angles and edges arise in the track surface. At the base of the design, the new mid-height lug presents the compound to the racing surface while the center lug DNA picks up the heavy lifting for forward-bite. Hybrids include the Profiled (closed cell) insert design featuring the unique, highly durable material, bright blue color and revolved cuts which provide extra full support, stability, and cushion.

Hybrids excel on indoor and outdoor hard-packed surfaces with either dry or wet conditions. Drivers will feel the immediate impact of the exclusive design and proprietary rubber compound as they rip around the track at blistering speeds. The Hybrids are a contender straight out of the package, an all-out design for racing, pure JConcepts.

I took a set of blue hybrids to SS raceway here in Tampa, FL and did some running on the cola coated track. I ran for about a total of 45 minutes with pin still left over. One of the many things to say is that over this whole time of running, that the hybrids stay fast and very easy to drive. This will help every racer in a long main event stay fast for the win.
