Start your week by taking our poll! Every Monday morning a new question is posted, and the results of the previous week's poll are dissected for insight on trends and regional patterns. Questions may discuss the direction of the industry, current events, and predictions for upcoming races. Polls close Friday evening, so make sure to get your vote in on time - this is your chance to be heard!

LAST WEEK'S RESULTS

"How can stock racing be fixed?"

What stuck out most to me about this map was the potential inefficiency of the survey relying on a dropdown menu to provide accurate statistics on where the responses are coming from - so unless at least one person from Afghanistan thinks that stock racing is pointless, these maps are at least a bit flawed (though Belgium, the Netherlands, Sweden, and Cuba all agreed). With this being a multiple-answer poll, the colors represented on the map don't mean quite as much as they usually do - though it's still interesting to see that Russian voters thought stock racing was too screwed up to be fixed, voters in Thailand and Turkey most appreciate the idea of rentable handout motors, Germans were most opinionated about cracking down on the cheaters,

Overwhelmingly, racers who responded to this survey believe two things - that 17.5 motors should have locked timing, which I think is a no-brainer, and that racers caught cheating at events should face harsher penalties. Of course, it's tough to define what the harsher penalty could really be. Disqualified from the entire event? Sure. Blacklisted from racing stock for a period of time? That's more difficult, and perhaps not even really that productive. The third-most popular regulation? Cost control - what a shock! Apparently racers don't enjoy shelling out $150 for a decent stock motor.
