Talk It Up Tuesday: Samantha Joan

This week we caught up with the King of the Streets 2022 champion, Samantha Joan to see how she's doing and how things went at the KOTS event. #TIUT

Tyler Hooks: Hey Samantha, congratulations on your big win at King of the Streets, how was your trip out to Las Vegas?
Samantha Joan: Thank you very much. The trip out was great. The weather was beautiful and the drive was real smooth.

TH: What kind of equipment did you use this past weekend?
SJ: R1 Wurks DC1 car equipped with Whitz ceramic bearings, R1 digital 3 esc, Rockwell RC/Volta 3.0t motor, R1 15200 battery, R1 servo, protoform Corvette body, BMF carbon fiber wing, Voodoo tires on J Concepts wheels.

TH: Was there any sort of epiphany moment during the event where you really thought you just might win this thing?
SJ: I didn’t really have an epiphany. Drag racing is hard, anything can happen but I had a lot of confidence in the way the car was performing.

TH: Of all your competitors, were there any matchups that really had you more worried than others?
SJ: When I had to race Joey Davis because he is my teammate and is really fast. He has won two big races and I new it was going to be really close.

TH: Obviously your 1.6 second pass was incredibly fast, had you done a pass that fast in testing or away from this specific event? No I have not.
SJ: The best time I had run prior in testing was a 1.77.

TH: Do you compete in any other forms of RC racing?
SJ: In the past I have run off road 1/10 scale, clay, carpet and turf.

TH: Do you have any fun plans for the 20k?
SJ: No plans as of yet.
