Dynamite Custom BBS Spektrum DX3R Steering Wheel
$21.00

On the market today there are only so many different radios you can buy. Eventually someone at the track is going to have the same radio. Using our Spektrum DX3R Pro, we decided to customize our radio to step away from the "normal" look. We found the Dynamite Custom BBS Steering Wheel, and instantly scooped it up and installed it.

The Dynamite Custom BBS Steering Wheel is available in variety of colors, for a variety of different radios. With the simply removal of one screw we pulled the stock steering wheel off, and installed our new Dynamite wheel on. The new wheel is within millimeters of the same size as the stock Spektrum DX3R Pro wheel, however, it features more wheel and less foam. This eliminates the squishy feeling of the stock wheel by providing a harder foam to grip onto. The foam is slightly textured which allows you to keep a good grip on it. The custom BBS rim design blows the stock steering wheel out of the water in the style department, and has held up well to our abuse.

Pros:
  • Gives the DX3R a firmer feel to the steering wheel.
  • Allows for a good grip on the wheel.
  • Approximately the same overall size, so it doesn't take long to get used to.
  • Installs very easily.
  • Takes your steering wheel appearance from zero to hero.

Cons:
  • You tend to want to lie about where you got it, so no one else can have one.

Conclusion:
A radio isn't like a car, there aren't hundreds of hop-ups and tricks to make them work any different. This is hands down the best investment we have made towards a radio, as it not only improves the overall feel of the Spektrum DX3R, but also GREATLY improves its appearance.

Tekin 12awg Pink Flexwire
$11.00

We may not look wild and crazy, but we are always looking for a new way to be different from the "normal". We are tired of looking at the traditional black wire spaghetti running throughout our electric vehicles, so we decided to do something wild and crazy! Tekin recently released their popular Flexwire in white and pink color options. White is loud, but hot pink is LOUDER.

For the standard price of wire we got on our hands on 3' of the new Tekin Pink 12awg Flexwire. This wire is available in 3' packs or you can go big with 50' rolls in either 12awg, 14awg and/or 16awg. A high strand count, braided and corded structure, and high grade silicone jacket makes the Tekin Flexwire perform well, hold up to the bends and twists, and look good too.

We found the Tekin Flexwire easy to work with as it seems to be slightly more flexible than some others, making it easy to weave in and out for a clean wiring job.  The wire is pre-tinned which makes soldering a breeze. It didn't take us long, and the inside of our car looked like a glow in the dark disco as we replaced all of our standard black ESC wires with Tekin's hot pink creation.

Pros:
  • Unique appearance that isn't seen often.
  • Flexible for easy routing.
  • Pre-tinned which makes soldering for the first time very easy.
  • Available in 12awg, 14awg, and 16awg

Cons:
  • If you're not careful while soldering, soldering iron burns show up a little more on hot pink wire than they do on black wire.

Conclusion:
What can we say, we wanted to do something wild, crazy, and different...so we did. Is our car still laced with hot pink wire? No. While we like catching the eye of other racers, the pink wire was catching the eye of racers in ways we had no intentions of doing. We were very satisfied with the way the Tekin Flexwire works and solders up, so we decided to trade out the pink for white instead. Since that time we have taken great pride in our unique look, and are no longer receiving the awkward smirks and winks from other racers passing by.

PB2 Powdered Peanut Butter
$7.00
When travelling around racing I never really know what I will encounter. Whether it be a staircase in and out of a restaurant, or a flight of stairs up and down the drivers stand. Obviously trying to maneuver these obstacles alone in a wheelchair is a sure way to end up on your face at the bottom, therefore I am so thankful for all of those who are willing to help out and carry my chair and I up and down. Believe it or not, although it may not look like it, I have been working hard for the past year on a low-carb diet working to lose some weight and make the lives of those trying to lift me up and down stairs a little less painful.

In my quest for a low-carb diet I fell in love with peanut butter. The problem is while straight peanut butter isn't terribly high in carbs,  it IS high in calories and fat. This is when I found PB2 powdered peanut butter. Yes the idea sounds gross, BUT if you like peanut butter and/or chocolate you won't be disappointed.

By simply taking two tablespoons of powder and either mixing it with a little water, or just eating Pixie Sticks style, you have instant peanut butter with almost four times less calories and still low carbs!

Pros:
  • Tastes delicious...trust me.
  • Available in peanut butter or chocolate flavor.
  • Only 45 calories per serving.
  • Spreadable to make sandwiches.

Cons:
  • The idea sounds so gross, it is hard to get up the nerve to try it.

Conclusion:
Is PB2 a magical weight loss powder? No. It is however an excellent substitute for your standard peanut butter. If you haven't seen me at the track with my multiple jars of peanut butter in my pits, you wouldn't understand how much I love peanut butter. This tastes just like, if not better, than normal peanut butter, and is a healthier choice whether you are looking to lose weight or not! It does cost a little more than your standard jar of peanut butter, but will last you just about as long.
