This week I took the time to highlight something I have actually been using for a while which made me feel more comfortable reviewing it. The Protek RC Engine Heater is a useful tool from Protek RC used to pre-heat your engine before starting it or to even keep the engine at a specific temperature during break-in.

Engines are expensive, so being able to pre-heat them and gain longevity is important in keeping cost down overall. All this warmer needs is either a 3S lipo battery or a 12V power supply to supply 140(F) degrees plus.

Specifications (provided by Protek):

  • 10 minute safety timer turns heater off automatically.
  • Built-in temperature sensor to control heater power output.
  • LED indicates status of engine heater.
  • 12V DC power source compatible with low voltage cutoff.
  • Fire- and heat-resistant adjustable cover.
  • Fits all .19-.26 nitro engines.
  • Small, lightweight, and compact for quick and easy storage.
  • High-efficiency heat transfer design.
  • Access port allows you to start and monitor your engine temperature without the need to remove heater.

Pros:

  • 150 Degrees of Heat
  • Use with 3S or Power Supply
  • Compact For Easy Traveling
  • Relatively Inexpensive
  • Low Voltage Cutoff

Cons:

  • Doesn't Heat as Quickly or Get as Hot as 4S Alternatives

Final Word:

Definitely a fan of this heating application. The LVC and safety timer are really nice for forgetful people like myself. If this thing ever does quit working I would definitely buy another. 5/5 recommended to anyone.

Rating: 5 out of 5
