Whether it's wheel nuts, wings, tools, tracks, trinkets and/or anything in between, the LiveRC staff gives their testimonial and review of each every Thursday morning!

When you choose to go furniture shopping for a new couch, what are you looking for? Personally, I am looking for something that is comfortable to sit in, is not too big or small, has added bells and whistles, looks good, and is easy to carry out of the store. Oddly enough, shopping for a new couch is a lot like shopping for an R/C car stand, as I look for a lot of the same qualities to ensure my car is comfy, secure, and looking good. This week I went “couch shopping” for a new car stand, and had the opportunity to try out the new Lazer Car Stand from Raceform RC.

Raceform RC entered the R/C world by first creating bodies in 2013. The company, based out of Singapore, has since expanded their product line to carry not only their original bodies, but also an extensive lineup of plastic/plexiglass pit accessories. Last November the brand released the Lazer Car Stand range. These stands are claimed to be made from the “most premium plexiglass in the industry.” The stand works for 1/10-scale vehicles and 1/8-scale vehicles (without the wheels), and is available in five distinct colors; gold, orange, red, blue, and gunmetal. Each stand is designed to be flipped on its side to double as a shock holder, with one side being sized for 1/10-scale shocks, and the other with larger holes for 1/8-scale shocks. Each stand includes one set of foam pads pre-installed, and an extra replacement set in the box as well. No assembly for the Lazer Car Stand is required.

Specs:

  • Size – 190mm x 110mm x 50mm
  • Weight – 4.5oz
  • Material – 4mm thick plexiglass
  • Colors Available – Gold, Orange, Red, Blue, Gunmetal
  • Fits – 1/10-scale vehicles with or without wheels, and most 1/8-scale vehicles without wheels installed.

The first thing about the Raceform RC Lazer Car Stand that caught my eye was the box it was packaged in. Raceform sends the Lazer Car Stand in a standard cardboard box, however, the Raceform logo and text is cut out and showing through to the stand inside. While the box it comes in has absolutely nothing to do with how it works, the initial sight of the box already had me excited.

Inside the box I expected to find pieces of a car stand that required I put it together, however, the plexiglass design of the Lazer stand is completely “RTS” (Ready-To-Sit). Aside from the car stand, you will also find an extra set of foam pads for the top of the stand, and a sticker sheet as well.

I am a huge fan of the Lazer Car Stand design, as it features a very clean, edgy, jagged and “futuristic” style. As with many other car stands, the Lazer also doubles a shock holder for both 1/10-scale and 1/8-scale shock bodies. Each side features five (in case you have a fifth shock on your car maybe?) hexagon cut-outs, appropriately sized to fit most shock bodies. When on it’s side, the shock stand is taller than many other shock stands available, and allows for most shocks to be fully extended and still suspended by the stand – which is much easier to see the air bubbles than when the shock is compressed and hiding the air under the piston.

The stand is also available in five different colors; gold, orange, red, blue, and gunmetal. Many car stands, aside from Lexan stands you paint yourself, are one color. Having multiple colors to choose from is an added bonus to keep your pit space matching. If none of the colors match, gunmetal is my suggestion, as it’s a neutral color that works with almost everything.

The Lazer stand features padding on top which keeps your car from sliding on and off the stand, and padding on the bottom to keep it from sliding on and off your pit table.

Accent pieces are installed matching whichever color you choose featuring the Raceform logos, and more importantly add eye-catching finishing touches to the stand.

While the stand is not collapse-able, it is very sturdy, durable, and lightweight (4.5oz) for travelling.

Pros:

  • Unique design that is available five different colors.
  • Lightweight and durable design.
  • Fits almost all 1/10-scale on-road and off-road vehicles.
  • Padded top and bottom eliminate slippage.
  • Doubles as a 1/10-scale and 1/8-scale shock stand.

Cons:

  • Much like a Lexan car stand or body, Plexiglass material is shiny and glossy, which looks amazing but shows scuffs and scratches rather quickly.
  • The most stylish and colorful part of the stand is the top, which is covered with your car sitting on it.

Final word:

The Raceform Lazer Car Stand has not improved my driving, has not improved the way my car handles or performs, and has not improved my results - but it has improved my pit space status. I can honestly say it is the first car stand that I have been asked by numerous racers passing by, “Whoa…cool stand bro, where’d you get that?” The only downfall to this stand is that the top of the stand is by far the most eye-appealing, which unfortunately is covered when your car is sitting on it. Nonetheless Terence Low and Raceform have created a quality multi-function car stand that sets itself apart with a refreshing/unique look and design of its own.
