Upgrade RC Dual Sided Detail Brush
$5.99

Most often when cleaning off our cars we take the easy route, using an air compressor to blast away all of the dirt, dust, and grime. Even after the high power air compressor does its job, there is still goo and grime hiding in those tiny, hard to reach, places. We decided to try out the Upgrade RC Dual Sided Detail Brush to give our car a top to bottom cleaning.

The Upgrade RC Dual Sided Detail Brush is small and compact. It fits nicely in most toolboxes, doesn't taken up an enormous amount of room, and is small enough to fit in those pesky crevices. Each end is equipped with nylon brushes, and as you can see, one end is larger than the other. The smaller end is perfect for 1:10 buggies and cleaning the cut-outs in the a-arms etc. The bigger end makes it easy to fit in and around the shocks and small parts.

Pros:
  • Fits nicely in toolbox.
  • Small enough to fit in the tightest of places on your car.
  • Smaller end works great for cleaning cut-outs in a-arms.
  • Larger end works great for shocks, and various other small parts.
Cons:
  • Nylon bristles are slightly soft, so carrying a firm toothbrush to knock off the big stuff is recommended.
Conclusion:
The Upgrade RC Dual Sided Detail Brush works great. The nylon brushes are a little on the soft side, so cleaning thick goop is a job for a firmer brush. This little guy is for cleaning up the smaller side of things, and putting the finishing touches on your car...not to clean the entire thing. Aside from the deep scratches and war wounds embedded in the car and its plastic, thanks to the help of this Upgrade RC brush our car looks like new!

JConcepts Stick-On Weight Set
$10.20

Adding weight to your car can significantly change the way the car handles and performs. We have been accustom to using the standard stick-on lead weights in which you must tear apart. The edges are nasty, they don't match anything, and your not really sure how much weight EXACTLY your putting in the car. That all changed as we picked ourselves up a set of the JConcepts Stick-On Weights.

This nifty weight set features precision made 5 and 10 gram weights (they are 99.99999% exact on each...we weighed them). Each piece is easily pulled apart from the others, and after peeling the backer off, you simply stick them in place. The adhesive isn't thick and gaudy looking like some, the weights are black with super trick "JC" print on them, and they are clean cut so you know EXACTLY the weight your adding to your car.

Pros:
  • The are pre-cut and stamped with the different weights.
  • Adhesive is strong and holds firm (assuming you clean the surface your applying it to first).
  • Weights are stealthy black with "JC" print, instead of lead silver.
  • Each set includes 16 pieces which is more than enough to weigh down your car.
  • Includes a re-sealable bag to carry around the spares.
Cons:
  • Double the price of standard 16-piece lead weight sets.
Conclusion:
When we review an item, price normally plays a factor as that is a major part of racing. Everyone wants to have fun without spending outside their budget. These weights cost almost double that of standard lead weights, however, in our opinion they are WELL worth the money. The weights stick good (no more picking them up off the straightaway after your race), they are precision cut and measured, they are clearly labeled for weight, and most of all they look AMAZING.

THURSDAY TESTIMONIALS - RANDOM ITEM OF THE WEEK:
Each week outside of the R/C world we test out and use a variety of items in our daily routines that have absolutely nothing to do with R/C, and THIS is what we think of them!

Chassis Rohde
$ (A box of donuts)

This past weekend I made the journey to Green Bay, Wisconsin to the LiveRC Broadcast Center, and had the privilege of being a part of the LiveRC Broadcast crew for the NEO'13 event. While the crew was working hard in England, I was stationed here in the United States commentating the event. In doing so, I worked closely with LiveRC's Erik Jensen who introduced me to a very important individual.

This individual is none other than the Facebook famous Chassis Rohde. Only a few years old (we think), he is a key player here at LiveRC as he works 24/7 as the broadcast center security, trash collector, and food disposal service.

While Erik and I began to get weary in the LiveRC Broadcast Center after five full days of racing, young Chassis never missed a beat. Chassis consistently greeted incoming traffic and ran security checks ensuring that they were not intruders, consistently made sure that no food went to waste during such long broadcast days, consistently kept the fly, butterfly, and moth levels down by eating them on site, and most importantly  befriended and gave my father "Homer" a formal tour of the LiveRC headquarters.

Pros:
  • Night time can be scary, but not when you have Chassis standing guard.
  • It's hard to throw away good food when your stomach is full, but with Chassis around you never have to throw anything away.
  • Who needs bug spray when Chassis will eat them for free?
  • Homer has a friend.
Cons:
  • If you do not share a cherry filled donut with Chassis, he will in fact ignore your prescense for the remaining broadcast day.
Conclusion:
Chassis Rohde is a class act, and I am honored to get the opportunity to meet and work with such a talented individual. There is nothing on this earth that Chassis won't do for LiveRC. I mean come on, the guy was even willing to sit patiently and "hold" my breakfast while I announced the entire semi-finals.
