In a surprise Facebook announcement, XRAY team driver and rising star for the Czech Republic, Karel Novotny, has announced his retirement from R/C to focus on school and adulthood.

Karel stated, "I originally planned to write this after XRS in Hudy Arena, but since I couldn ´t attend it, I feel I should write something ... By the end of 2018 I will stop R/C racing! Unfortunately with university getting more and more difficult and life also catching me up, I couldn ´t manage it all and if I would continue, I would probably fail in everything ... so I had to make a choice, not an easy one, but hopefully I chose right!

I am thankful to so many people who helped me over so many years I ´ve been in this hobby and so I would like to name at least few of them, who did a lot for me (of course first is always family - mum&dad): Juraj Hudy, Mario Hudy, Martin Hudy, Martin Bayer, Salton Dong, Nick Li, Yifeng Liao, Rob Hopkins, Oscar Jansen, Michal Bok, Hupo Hönigl, Allison Ruona, Oliver Manhold, Sven Rudig, Michael Vollmer ... and there are many others!

Who knows what future holds, maybe this goodbye will last only few months and I will be back, but for now plan is to finish studies and then ... I will see what comes! So good luck everyone on & off the track and thank you all for making all those years such a great part of my life!
