So far the 2012 IFMAR 1:8 Offroad World Championships has been dealt sunny weather and dry conditions (for the most part). What started as a light rain moving into the area this morning, quickly became apparent it was there to stay. Heavy rain and thunderstorms soaked the Speed Paradise facility into the morning hours and quickly killed the hopes of running the final round of qualifying.

Organizers have officially cancelled the last round of qualifying, which means that the blazing fast British driver, Elliott Boots has been crowned the overall TQ. As the track has been tarp covered and somewhat prepared for this weather, mains will HOPEFULLY take place tomorrow as drivers will do there best to fight for a spot into the semi-finals and final.

The top twenty qualifiers after the round six cancellation are as follows:

As you can see the top sixteen drivers have secured themselves a spot in the semi-finals, leaving American hopefuls Rodriguez, Drake, and Phend to battle their way with Reno Savoya and many more for a bump spot into the semi's.

The semi-finals have been set (not including the drivers who bump-up) and will run as follows:

There is nothing any racer, track worker, and/or organizer can do at this point but wait out the rain. Regardless of whether the rain were to stop now or not, we expect tomorrow's lower mains to be less than dusty and dry slick.

(One man who does not have to worry about the rain cancellation today is your 2012 IFMAR 1:8 IC World Championship TQ, Team Kyosho's Elliott Boots)
