The town of Novelty, Missouri has a population of 149 people. The town is 15+ miles from the nearest gas station, store, or restaurant, and resides in the hills of northeastern Missouri. The talk of the town and most well-known attraction is none other than Novelty RC Raceway - host of the annual NEMO Off-Road Championships.
This year's event gathered racers from across the midwest including Missouri, Kansas, Iowa, Nebraska, and Illinois. Track building guru, Tony Burton, would once again work his magic to create a fantastic track layout that included several big air doubles that sent cars well above the height of the driver's stand. Rex and Regina Franke are Novelty natives, owners of the Novelty RC Facility, and offer some of the most welcoming hospitality and friendships you will find in R/C racing. As usual the couple did a fantastic job putting together an enjoyable race weekend for all with a top notch facility, concessions, and efficient race program.
After a full day of racing, the final tone sounded and the dust began to settle just as the Novelty sun was disappearing on the horizon. Racers gathered under the lights to finish out the day by receiving their well-earned awards, and the 2017 NEMO champions were crowned.
