After a shakedown club race on September 17, Apex RC Raceway in Murfreesboro, TN opened its doors to the on-road racing masses this past weekend for the USVTA Southern Nationals.

The spacious track area, stocked hobby shop and cushy pit area were a welcome sight for locals and travelers alike.

A field of 89 drivers totaling 165 entries competed in eight classes: Trans Am Invite, Pro Trans Am, Junior Trans Am, Pro Grand Touring, IROC, Formula 1, 17.5 Touring Car Rubber Tire and 13.5 1/12-scale. Four rounds of qualifying were completed, after which each racer’s fastest single run was used to seed the finals.

The 1/12-scale and Junior Trans Am classes were decided by a single A-Main, the IROC and Trans Am Invite classes used a Double A-Main format, and the rest contested a grueling Triple A-Main to determine the winners. Here are the results and replays of the A-Mains.
